This role provides project and resource management support for various temple, scripture, and hymn translation and recording projects, being the connecting link between Church Headquarters in Salt Lake City and translation teams in the Area. It supports diverse teams of translators and voice talents in multiple languages. Its intent is to guide and align internal and external resources in achieving established targets of efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness for translating, interpreting, producing and delivering products to users around the world—with an emphasis on project management. The primary objective of this role is to facilitate the successful completion of sacred materials projects by coordinating job tasks through the use of translation project management tools and technologies and by assisting Sacred Materials Linguists and Area Language Supervisors in building capabilities amongst resources.
Candidates for this position will be leaders with exceptional organizational and time-management skills and experience in managing projects and in performing or supporting translation work. They must demonstrate problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail and familiarity with business operations and technology. In addition to keeping projects on track, they must also have strong communication skills in order to provide clear training and feedback on translation tools and processes to project team members. They must be service-oriented with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with people across cultures. They must be available to work during non-standard business hours and on flexible schedules to facilitate partnership with team members and staff in other time zones.
- Communicates with Church translation offices in the Areas to determine resource availability for temple translation and production, as well as for other scripture and hymnbook translation projects.
- Assists temple translation and temple production teams with location and travel arrangements for sacred materials projects in multiple areas.
- Assists sacred materials linguists with document creation, job assignments, job tracking, and resource management.
- Uses standard processes to ensure the timely completion of projects, including managing communication, project expectations and payment with translation team members.
- Creates and administers surveys for Sacred Materials projects.
- Typically coordinates sensitive, confidential, high-profile projects.
- Travels internationally, including to other areas, to assist with project and resource needs.
- Other duties as assigned by translation managers at Church Headquarters and in the Area.
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in business, linguistics, translation or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and / or experience with a high degree of expertise (typically seen in a professional translator with at least 8 years of experience) in translation or a related field, and skill in writing, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax of one or more non-English languages. Plus 3 years of experience in project management or a related field.
- Broad knowledge of history, political and economic circumstances, cultural differences, and localization needs in a globalized world.

- Ability to interact with external and internal resources in a way that ensures projects are completed in a timely manner and according to client specifications.
- Ability to navigate through translation and business management tools, web interfaces, reading briefs and instructions, including entering data and downloading and uploading files.
- Ability to provide basic technical support to translation and business management systems users.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with operating systems and Office 365 applications.
- Knowledge of Church doctrine, policies, and ecclesiastical organization.
- Knowledge of word processing, graphic production and language recording best practices.
- Familiarity with computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools.
