Job Summary
Group Resilience is responsible for driving and delivering the bank’s resilience capabilities spanning operational resilience, operational continuity in resolution, technology resilience, business continuity management and crisis management across the bank. We partner with our businesses and across both lines of defence to define and manage the bank’s most important business services (IBS), enabling product and segment CEOs to set impact tolerances thresholds for those services and ensuring the operational assets which support them are built, maintained, and changed in BAU with resilient service in mind. The role holder will be responsible for scenario testing and vulnerability management practices for Operational Resilience, partner and collaborate across the bank to grow the maturity of the group’s pan‑bank scenario testing programme, and support how vulnerabilities identified through scenario testing and other vulnerability assessment methods are managed through to remediation.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the scenario testing practices within Group Operational Resilience.
- Manage the identification, planning, execution, lessons learnt, vulnerability identification and management and reporting of scenario testing across severe but plausible scenarios.
- Manage and maintain SCB’s testing catalogue and threat landscape, working with appropriate RFOs.
- Undertake horizon scanning to identify potential threats to the bank and learn from events impacting other financial institutions.
- Co‑ordinate and plan scenario testing across the bank to ensure alignment and efficiencies across testing within other areas of the bank (e.g. Cyber, Technology, Risk and Crisis).
- Ensure effectiveness of scenario testing is in line with the group’s Operational Resilience Standard.
- Manage updates to risk committees relating to testing activities for Operational Resilience.
- Responsible for the assessment and validation of potential vulnerabilities that may threaten the bank’s ability to remain within impact tolerances.
- Ensure reporting and tracking of management information related to operational resilience vulnerabilities is accurate and clearly presented.
- Engage with Risk Management and vulnerability owners to assess the status of remediation activities and any delivery risks that require escalation.
Skills And Experience
Relevant experience in risk, technology, resilience or security in banking and financial services.Minimum 2‑3 years of scenario testing experience.A higher education degree in IT or finance is preferred.Subject matter expert of emerging Operational Resilience regulations and best practices.In‑depth knowledge of business and functions and their supporting processes and systems.Strong knowledge of resilience and risk frameworks, principles, architecture.Strong risk management experience.Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, across various levels in the organization including senior leadership teams.Strong communication skills – oral, written and presentation.Self‑starter able to initiate and drive programs and projects to completion with little or no management supervision.Strong analytical skills and ability to prioritise, make decisions, and work to tight timeframes.Proven ability to lead highly complex, global activities through influence and credibility rather than command and control.Ability to both assess strategic priorities and focus on detailed aspects of a function to drive effective delivery.Strong integrity, independence, and resilience.Business Continuity Management related certification (BCI, DRI, etc.) will be an asset.About Standard Chartered
