We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented
Payroll Specialist
to manage the end-to-end, in-house payroll process for our UK and Ireland operations. This role will ensure the accurate and timely payment of employees, compliance with all statutory requirements, and delivery of a high-quality service to colleagues and managers. The Payroll Specialist will also contribute to process improvements, controls, and reporting within the HR and Finance function.
Your Responsibilities :
Payroll Processing (UK & Ireland) :
- Administer and process monthly payroll cycles in-house for UK and Irish employees.
- Collect, validate, and input all payroll data (new hires, terminations, salary changes, overtime, bonuses, statutory leaves, etc.).
- Calculate statutory deductions including PAYE, NIC, Student Loans, and Pension Contributions (UK) and Income Tax, USC, PRSI, and Pension Contributions (Ireland).
- Ensure accuracy of BACS files and bank submissions.
Compliance & Reporting :
Ensure payroll is compliant with HMRC and Revenue requirements.Prepare and submit Real Time Information (RTI) filings (UK) and PAYE Modernization submissions (Ireland).Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare year-end reporting : P60, P11D, P45, and P46 (UK) / P60, P45, P35 equivalents (Ireland).Liaise with auditors, HMRC, Revenue Commissioners, and pension providers as required.Employee & Manager Support :
Serve as the first point of contact for payroll queries in the UK and Ireland.Provide timely and professional support to employees regarding pay, deductions, and statutory entitlements.Support managers with payroll-related guidance.Systems, Controls & Process Improvement :
Maintain and update payroll software / systems to ensure data accuracy.Reconcile payroll accounts with Finance, including GL postings and payroll-related accruals.Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy, including automation.Support HR with reporting requirements (headcount, overtime, cost analysis, etc.).Work within European HR Service Team to prepare an European payroll process at regional level.Your Background :
Proven experience managing in-house payroll for any EU Country.Experience with payroll software (e.g., Sage, BrightPay, ADP Freedom, Workday, SAP, or similar).Confident in statutory year-end processes and reconciliations.Advanced Excel / data handling skills.High accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.Proactive and hands-on, able to work independently.Customer-focused, with ability to explain payroll concepts clearly.Nice to have :
