Offer Description
The person hired for this position will lead a research team in the intersection of artificial intelligence and complex systems science. The work will focus on the modeling, analysis, and interpretation of emergent behaviours in large‑scale, adaptive systems—both artificial and socio‑technical.
Key responsibilities will include :
- Designing and implementing computational models (e.g., agent‑based, network‑based, or hybrid) to study the dynamics of complex AI‑driven systems;
- Conducting simulations and scenario analyses to explore non‑linear effects, feedback loops, and phase transitions in intelligent multi‑agent environments;
- Developing diagnostic tools for identifying systemic risks, tipping points, and unintended consequences in AI‑integrated infrastructures;
- Applying concepts from statistical physics, information theory, and systems theory to analyze robustness, adaptability, and failure modes of intelligent systems;
- Documenting research findings in the form of scientific publications, simulation benchmarks, and explanatory visualisations;
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams in areas such as socio‑technical resilience, AI governance, and systemic safety;
- Contributing to the design and implementation of national and international research initiatives (e.g., NCN, Horizon Europe) related to AI and complexity science.
In addition, the person in this position may act as a scientific supervisor for a small team of junior researchers (1–2 people), supporting them in model development, literature review, and the interpretation of simulation results.
Employment will be financed from the project titled “Center for Credible Artificial Intelligence,” funded under the FENG MAB programme (agreement no. FENG.02.01-IP. / 24).

Scientific achievements with up to three key publications, research projects, or implementation works that best demonstrate expertise in the area of Centre for Credible AI. Each selected work should include a brief justification (maximum 300 words in total) describing innovation, significance of results, individual contribution, practical applications, or impact on further research.Experiences in conducting computational experiments using data generation tools, and participation in interdisciplinary research and development projects.PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Artificial Intelligence or similar field.Proven experience in research work on AI models.Ability to conduct independent research and work in a team, including willingness to collaborate across disciplines and to mentor junior researchers.Very good command of English (and another foreign language).Languages : English – Level Excellent
