Project Overview

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one‑of‑a‑kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long‑lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to support electrical design activities for the Poland AP1000 Project in the Warsaw, Poland project office. This role requires deep expertise in electrical systems and layout design, along with the ability to produce comprehensive design documentation that meets project and regulatory standards. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), promotion of our leadership, quality, and safety values, to external partners including vendors, construction companies, and other subcontractors, demonstrable managerial experience, proven problem‑solving abilities, a can‑do attitude, and a commitment to quality.

Major Responsibilities

• Extensive understanding of all engineering discipline drawings and electrical discipline wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, system descriptions, system calculations, 1‑line and 3‑line drawings, schematics, and the ability to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations for 230V‑400kV systems.
• Self‑starter capable of independent creative design, using Bechtel and industry proven concepts and procedures.
• Interpretation and application of US, IEC, PL codes & standards and customer design requirements for electrical design documents, specifications, material requisitions, and system descriptions.
• Evaluation, selection, and application of standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria for small‑size projects or assignments, including the preparation of original designs, layouts, details, drawings, and specifications.
• Coordination of electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
• Design, development, modification, and evaluation of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity, utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
• Coordination with Polish sub‑contractors and review of sub‑contractor deliverables to support electrical design.
• Support of design and operations permitting activities.
• Collaboration with other engineering disciplines.
• Preparation of conceptual studies, design drawings, reports or proposals.
• Provision of technical assistance to other electrical personnel and interaction with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel to resolve complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
• Assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
