Overview
This hybrid position encompasses Database, DevOps and Development and will focus on performance testing and ensuring optimal database design, configuration, and deployment.
This role requires expertise in multiple database technologies, cloud platforms, and development tools to help development teams ensure scalable, reliable, secure, and high-performing data architectures.
The Operations Performance team collaborates with other development teams to facilitate performance testing for their applications and services in support of our modern, cloud native, SaaS applications.
What you will be doing
- Work with development teams to evaluate performance of cloud-native database solutions, with a focus on MongoDB Atlas and PostgreSQL, and provide feedback and recommendations for improvements wherever possible.
- Collaborate with development teams to define best practices for database design, deployment, configuration, security, backup, replication and scalability.
- Review database queries and indexes and recommend optimizations to enhance database performance.
- Generate data models for database schemas and document database architectures, processes, and best practices for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with AWS services such as RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, security groups, access control lists, parameter groups, IAM, S3, etc. to support cloud database operations and automation.
- Contribute to code base for database deployment, configuration, and documentation within Git repositories.
- Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for database provisioning and management using tools such as Terraform.
- Periodic assistance with disaster recovery testing and preparedness.
- Stay current with emerging cloud database technologies and industry trends.
What will make you successful
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.Solid understanding of database security, backup, and disaster recovery in cloud environments.Experience with MongoDB Atlas, AWS Aurora PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch in production and development environments.Proficient in JSON and SQL to retrieve and manipulate data.Proficient using Git and GitHub for source control and collaboration.Experience with SQL Server and Oracle.Experience with CI / CD pipelines for database deployments.Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for database services.Experience with AWS services relevant to database management.Experience in Python programming.Familiarity with Snowflake.Familiarity with OpenSearch.Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools such as Terraform.Familiarity with SaaS application development and cloud-native architectures.Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.Familiarity with Jira.Understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to facilitate data movement between systems.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
