JOIN OUR TEAM

As Head of Ta x , you are responsible for the tax strategy and its implementation at Westwing. You lead a high-performing team, ensure compliance, and actively identify optimisation opportunities. As a strategic advisor, you support the Executive Team with international expansion and the development of new business models. The role requires deep tax expertise, entrepreneurial thinking, and flexibility in a dynamic, tech-driven environment. This position is unlimited , reporting to our Headquarters in Munich and based in Warsaw .

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • lead and develop a tax team consisting of 7 team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous compliance improvement through pragmatic solutions
  • coach team members to enhance communication, process understanding, solution-focus, and quality, while ensuring clear roles, succession planning, and development pathways
  • provide strategic and operational tax advisory to the Executive Team on all tax-relevant matters including M&A, international expansion, legal entity structuring, and permanent establishment risks
  • develop and implement a group-wide international tax strategy focused on scalable structures, risk mitigation, and value creation, including proactive tax planning measures
  • support international expansion initiatives (, UK legal entity, physical stores abroad) and monitor changes in tax laws (, Pillar 2) to assess business impact
  • oversee tax compliance across all jurisdictions - income tax, VAT, transfer pricing -ensuring accurate, timely, and fully compliant submissions and payments
  • act as a pragmatic, solution-oriented business partner to internal stakeholders, driving clean-up of historical tax positions and collaborating with Tech and Finance teams to automate and optimise tax processes
  • build and implement a fit-for-purpose Tax CMS, assessing and documenting tax risks, defining effective controls, and ensuring compliance standards
  • serve as main contact for tax authorities, external consultants, and auditors, and communicate complex tax matters clearly to non-tax stakeholders for value-add business partnering

YOU COME WITH

  • degree in Business Administration, Law with a focus on taxation, or relevant qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in a comparable in-house tax leadership role or international tax advisory
  • strong expertise in German and international tax matters, including transfer pricing, VAT, permanent establishments, and restructurings
  • proven success in developing international tax strategies within fast-paced, tech-driven, or eCommerce environments
  • self-driven, structured, and hands-on working style with strong analytical thinking, sound judgment, and result orientation
  • excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • fluent in English; German language skills are a plus
