Optical Systems Engineer

Your responsibilities
- Translate customer needs and observation requirements into technical requirements for spacecraft and optical payload subcontractors;
- Supervise instrument design, manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing;
- Participate in suppliers / subcontractors management, including assessment of their technical credibility, assessment of technical solutions, specifying statement of work and verification of datapack;
- Manage optical payload requirements traceability and own requirements V&V;
- Define instrument concept of operations and manage instrument technical budgets (e.g. power, data, mass, pointing / stability);
- Assess internal and external risks to the instrument, develop mitigation plans, and communicate them effectively;
- Monitor the performance of on-orbit instruments and data pipelines, support anomaly detection and root cause analysis;
- Collaborate effectively with other engineers, software developers, data product developers, ground segment team, and mission operations teams.
Our requirements
B.S, M.S., or Ph.D. in an optical engineering field, or equivalent experience;10+ years of experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment, with exposure to spacecraft, remote sensing instruments, and imaging systems;Hands-on experience on systems that gained flight heritage including data products exploitation;Experience driving right-sized trade studies and identifying systems solutions;Demonstrated project management skills and ability to collaborate with other engineering disciplines;Excellent communication, presentation, and coordination skills;Ability to rapidly change roles / responsibilities while working in a high-paced, rewarding work environment.Optional
Experience with on-ground optical imaging data processing;Experience with infrared imaging systems and components;Experience working with precision electro-optical equipment;Exposure to design and analysis of optical components and systems;Experience supporting integrated spacecraft testing and launch campaigns.Benefits

Creotech Instruments seeks an Optical Instrument Systems Engineer to join our team or support it (as consultant) in Warsaw to work with our engineering team on Optical Earth Observation microsatellites. You will be responsible for interacting with cross functional team members working on the microsatellite missions including mission analysis, systems engineering, EO data processing, mechanical, hardware and software engineers. Moreover the major responsibility will lay in selection and technical management of optical instruments suppliers , vendors, and partners to develop requirements and ICDs, perform system modeling, define instrument CONOPs, and manage risk.
This role is located at our office in Warsaw, Poland with option of partial or full-time remote work. In case of remote work, travels and accommodation cost may be covered.
