Team and Role Overview

The Client Onboarding Project Specialist will play a key role in driving process enhancements and execution within the EMEA Client Onboarding Organization. This role combines project management capabilities with a solid understanding of client onboarding and account maintenance process. The position supports strategic transformation initiatives, ensuring that operational improvements are delivered effectively, on time, and in alignment with Citi’s global standards.

The role requires strong organizational, analytical, and stakeholder management skills to coordinate enhancement activities, document process improvements, and support the delivery of the end‑to‑end onboarding excellence for clients and bankers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of Client transformation initiatives, including process redesign, automation, and operational efficiency projects.
  • Manage project tasks, track milestones, and maintain documentation (plans, benefit logs, misregisters, etc).
  • Act as the Business Activity Owner for Suppliers / Vendors which may fall under the Scope of the Team.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Onboarding, Account Maintenance, Technology, compliance, Risk & Business) to implement process and system enhancements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in client onboarding processes, documentation requirements, and system flows to ensure operational feasibility of proposed changes.
  • Participate in defining and documenting new procedures, user stories, and training material to support adoption of new processes or tools.
  • Support the monitoring of project performance metrics such as cycle time, good‑order submissions, and rework rates.
  • Identify and upscale potential risks or issues, ensuring proactive follow‑up and timely resolution.
  • Facilitate working groups or feedback sessions with bankers, associate bankers, and operations teams to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to building a culture of ownership and accountability, ensuring changes are embedded and sustainable.
  • Maintain compliance with Cit’s policies, procedures, and ethical standards while safeguarding client and firm assets.

Qualification and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills, including experience with project plans, stakeholder tracking, and status reporting.
  • 3+ years of experience in client onboarding, account maintenance, or operations within financial services (Wealth management or corporate banking preferred).
  • Exposure to project methodologies (Agile, PM / PRINCE 2 certification or similar) is required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, or equivalent tools).
  • Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge existing processes constructively and support continuous improvement.
  • Strong risk and control awareness, ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory standards.
  • English fluency (written and spoken) required; additional languages a plus.
