Job descriptionB achelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Cybersecurity, or 2+ years of equivalent experience W orking knowledge of Linux operating systems and Bash scripting. Basic understanding of Microsoft 365, including Entra, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams Familiar with key security concepts, such as access control, encryption, and vulnerability management Proactive, detail-oriented, and analytical, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively Relevant certifications Microsoft Certified : Fundamentals, CompTIA Security+) are an asset Experience with AWS security tools and services Hands-on experience with security assessments and penetration testing, including vulnerability remediation strategies Be part of a dynamic and innovative team at the forefront of data technology. To further strengthen our Information Security team, we are looking for a dedicated IT Security Engineer to support our mission of maintaining and enhancing MDPI’s secure infrastructure. In this role, you will play a key part in vulnerability assessment and analysis of our Linux-based systems. The System and Security Engineer position is a full-time, permanent opportunity based in one of our offices in Basel, Belgrade, or Krakow. As part of our commitment to fostering a collaborative team environment, this role requires working fully on-site.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing and maintaining security measures for Microsoft 365 services , including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams , and related platforms
- Monitor security alerts and incidents, escalate when necessary, and ensure timely resolution
- M aintain and optimize IT, network security, and backup systems based on service requirements
- C ollaborate with development teams to ensure secure and efficient system implementation
- Provide Level 2 / 3 support for security-related issues to IT users.
