  • Cross Product Technology is a division that supports “investment bank" area for HSBC. We see ourselves as being a technology company within the bank, building great solutions to support the bank's wider strategy, and we've been at the forefront of driving the organization’s DevOps / Agile agenda. We are currently focusing on these high-level outcomes :
  • Iterating on our already successful on-premises digital platform to allow teams to build products efficiently for our customers. The platform is being opened to additional teams and business lines to host their products.
  • Building out the flagship Single Dealer Platform for CIB, HSBC Evolve. There is always a lot of work going on in this space, driven by client demand. We value the importance of web standards and focus on accessibility as well as speed of delivery.
  • Working with all our Sales teams globally to build products which make their lives easier and allow them to provide excellent customer service.
  • Delivering the technology that supports the creation and delivery of research content to our customers.
  • Building next generation AI / ML tools to allow sales and traders to discover new client insights.
  • Building HSBC-wide social tools to allow internal communities to flourish - these have had over 250k unique users internally since their creation 3 years ago.
  • Our department is currently c.450 people strong, based across 7 locations. Hong Kong, China, India, Poland, UK, USA and Canada. Most of our teams are co-located but some of our teams work across geographies. We love flexible working and self-organizing teams and are enjoying new means of collaboration as part of HSBC's hybrid working strategy.
  • We are looking for people who are flexible in their approach, enjoy technology and who are happy to try new things, as well as being comfortable in throwing experiments away if they don’t work. Controlled failure is considered an opportunity to learn.
  • responsibilities :

  • Work within a team of 4 - 6 people with a dedicated product owner. Most teams are in a single location, but it can be geographically dispersed.
  • Take a business requirement, divide it up into stories and deliver each story iteratively to production.
  • Product support is integral to the role - we have a saying, “the team builds it, the team supports it".
  • Identify areas of technical debt, ensure a healthy balance of tech debt and new functionality is prioritised and worked on
  • For new items you need to design the solution and ensure that it follows technology guidelines and constraints.
  • Pair with other members of the team.
  • requirements-expected :

  • Willingness to learn multiple programming languages - we are looking for people that are or aspire to be Fullstack Engineers.
  • Demonstratable experience of one language. We predominantly use Java, Kotlin, Javascript (client & server).
  • Working knowledge of Unix.
  • Must understand databases from a consumer point of view.
  • Knowledge of HTTP APIs e.g. RESTful APIs.
  • Communicate within the team in English.
