The opportunity

We are seeking an SAP Tax Product and Process Manager with a deep understanding of global Tax regulations, processes and procedures as well as that being highly knowledgeable in the SAP / ERP products that support them.

In this role you will be responsible for critical elements of the global operational stability of the SAP / ERP Tax application, processing and upstream / downstream integration with other global and local technical products. This includes monitoring, maintenance and resolution of systems incidents and outages as well as the ongoing successful delivery / deployment of Tax related enhancements, configurations and product releases. Candidate must be a self-starter with significant global Tax technical, business and leadership experience.

This role will report to the Global Associate Director who leads EY’s Tax Suite of Products that support our ERP / SAP and related product set.

Your key responsibilities

  • Business Process Documentation - Understand and document business processes, workflows, and requirements to ensure ERP components align with organizational goals.
  • Functional Specifications Development - Create detailed functional specifications for SAP and non-SAP Tax components, including user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria for new features and enhancements.
  • Compliance Monitoring - Monitor proposed solutions within the SAP product suite to ensure compliance with global and local legal, statutory, and regulatory tax requirements.
  • Stakeholder Liaison - Serve as the primary liaison between business / finance stakeholders and the technical team, facilitating effective communication and mutual understanding of requirements.
  • Product Lifecycle Management - Oversee the product update and enhancement lifecycle, focusing on demand, requirements, validation, and securing business sign-off.
  • Tax Product Roadmap - Lead the creation and maintenance of Tax product roadmaps that prioritize functional enhancements based on critical business needs and feedback from over 150+ global member firms.
  • Testing and Validation - Drive requirements review, validation activities, test case reviews, and user acceptance testing for new features with tax implications.
  • Incident and Service Request Management - Manage functional incidents and service requests through their full lifecycle, providing oversight, prioritization, and timely communication of major incidents to the global business.
  • Financial Impact Assessment - Assess the financial impacts of incidents related to disrupted product processes, assisting the business in resolving complex errors and reconciliations.
  • Error Analysis - Analyze batch failures and summarize findings in reports for the business.
  • Team Development and Performance Monitoring - Provide technical oversight, coaching, and mentorship to team members, while monitoring their performance through the execution of performance management processes, goal setting, and feedback.
  • Control Systems - Establish and maintain controls and feedback systems to monitor departmental operations.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a large business system environment, performing business analysis, business development, and / or project systems management with a preferred focus on SAP tax module as well as third-party tax engine (Onesource preferred, or Vertex) integration with SAP, as well as SAP ECC FI (Tax, new GL, AP, AR, FA), SD, MM, VIM
  • Working knowledge and experience with capabilities of Onesource Reporting as well as SAP ECC VAT Reporting
  • Direct experience in managing Tax interfaces and Tax application operations for a global professional services organization (Big 4 experience preferred)
  • SAP certification preferred
  • History of working credibly with senior stakeholders
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills including strong cross-cultural communication and the ability to draft effective communications
  • Ability to work with people in a variety of cultures, countries and time zones
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, BOT Framework and Machine learning

    Prior experience working for a large, global organization with a complex environment

    Education :

    Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
