Job Description
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will lead and contribute to develop end-to-end analytic solutions, shaping data and algorithms to deliver accurate and robust Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics. You will work within a cross functional team composed of machine learning engineers, developers and client solution experts.
You will be part of the Global Data Science, a team of 40+ Scientists based in Nuremberg, Kuala Lumpur and Warsaw with diverse backgrounds. Always eager to learn and share experience, the team is a great environment for your self-development.
This is a Warsaw based position (hybrid - 2 days in office per week) - there is no travel required.
Mission
- Support the development of end-to-end analytical approaches based on product concepts
- Work with GfK's Point of Sale / Media / third-party data to develop Data Science solutions for implementation and standardization in production environments.
- Lead Data Science projects by breaking down and estimating tasks and coordinating and guiding team members
- Screen the market for potential new / innovative Data Science approaches
- Actively share Data Science knowledge within the tech organization
- Represent GfK’s Data Science expertise at conferences and workshops
- Support the presentation of GfK’s Data Science capabilities in client-facing situations
Responsibilities
Lead data science projects by identifying and removing bottlenecks, provide guidance by developing proof-of-concepts and ensure quality by adherence to coding guidelines, documentation and reproducibilityCreate product driven Data Science solutions for our new prescriptive / AI flagship product by closely collaborating with product manager / ownerContribute to Data Science projects by developing and implementing Data Science & machine learning models that are reproducible, well documented, and follow prescribed coding guidelinesParticipate in Communities of PracticePresent GfK’s Data Science expertise at conferences and workshopsCreate and improve methods and tools and contribute to best practices in the area of Data ScienceFoster Data Science related knowledge exchange within GfKSupport development of talent and organization of required trainingsQualifications
Essential skills
Master or PhD that reflects strong statistical / mathematical / computer science skills.Expert statistical skills. Either in survey statistics (sampling, non-response adjustments, Bayesian statistics), or econometric modeling (program evaluation, forecasting, economic theory, panel data), or observational causal inference (potential outcomes, structural equation models, instrumental variables) or experimental design.Solid knowledge of optimization and / or machine learning algorithms and / or deep learning algorithmsExpert knowledge of Python and the respective development tools / IDEs (e.g. Jupyter, PyCharm)Typically, 5+ years of work experienceDesirable skills
Expert knowledge of the constantly evolving Data Science ecosystem and popular machine learning frameworksSolid knowledge of common software engineering practices and framework (version control, testing, agile development / Scrum)Basic knowledge with cloud computing environments (e.g. GCP) and productionizing machine learning models (e.g. expose as REST API, containerization, scalability, performance optimization)About you
