Global Defense Engineering is responsible for fielding solutions that help defend HSBC against a wide range of threats to the business as well as its customers, clients, partners, and staff.  The team works in concert, with partner teams across HSBC, to implement novel defensive capabilities that are effective and adaptable against a constantly evolving threat landscape.

The function operates under the vision : “Enabling HSBC to be safely successful everywhere the Firm chooses to do business.”

What you need to have to succeed in this role

  • Understanding and knowledge of common industry cyber security frameworks, standards and methodologies
  • Experience working within integrated networked on-prem and Cloud environments with Third party and SaaS connectivity and that require cloud use-cases for web / mobile and enterprise companies.
  • Expertise and Experience in design and delivery of IT solutions and the supporting network security technologies
  • Strong commercial background and knowledge of cybersecurity network offerings
  • A background in information systems, technology, architecture, design, and service delivery of defense-in-depth capabilities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience of understanding and meeting the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • An ability to communicate complex and technical issues to diverse audiences, orally and in writing, in an easily understood, authoritative and actionable manner.
  • Experience at C level / Senior management positions
  • Experience of leading consultancy and engineering teams, supporting a group of platforms / services comprised of a mix of technologies and tools.
  • Extensive experience in data protection, cybersecurity, and risk management within the financial services industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing, delivery and implementing large scale global data protection strategies & programmes.

Collaboration with key risk stakeholders in the elaboration of network control processes and requirements to align with the risk appetite of the bank. Ensuring requirements can be measured against key indicators and with respective threshold setting., Maintenance of the Control requirements and domain standards, validation and definition activities to ensure consistency and traceability across the control and aligned to adopted industry best practice, Cyber Security Frameworks and Cyber Standards., Educating and understanding of the Control requirements and domain standards that is necessary for Control compliance in-line with the risk appetite of the bank., Contributes to / authors / owns capability related network security including but not limited to the elaboration and maintenance of Control requirements and domain standards.
