Systems Engineer, Virtualization

This Systems Engineer, Virtualization role will join a highly functional and fast paced team working in the CRO (Contract Research Organization) industry. Overall responsibilities center primarily on Parexel’s VMware environments hosted worldwide, leveraging private and public clouds depending on business needs.

Contributor in global and regional infrastructure projects with guidance from Senior and Principal team members

Proactively maintains data center and remote site physical VMware server infrastructure

Drives to deliver maximum uptime to all systems essential to supporting Parexel’s client deliverables

Works to deploy and test Infrastructure solutions

Work with internal customers on ticketed and project related tasks

Contributes to complex systems projects both regionally and globally

First point of contact for regional and global technical issues reported via alerting or tickets

Responsible for operation and maintenance of VMware Server infrastructure

Monitors VMware systems and services

Investigates and resolves problems, inefficiencies, and performance issues

Implementation of systems and ensures change control quality standards

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail

Willingness to work in a matrix environment and to value the importance of teamwork.

Hands-on experience deploying and maintaining VMWare vSphere environments

Understanding and motivational drive to learn and work with VMware VSAN and VCF

Hands-on experience with ESXi hardware platforms, Cisco UCS being a plus

Solid understanding of networking and SAN storage concepts related to VMware deployments

Experience with disaster recover platforms like SRM and / or Zerto a plus

Experience with VMware vRealize suite a plus

An IT professional with 3+ years of experience in providing IT services for regulated industries

Ability to work within a strict change management process while delivering solutions

Strong knowledge in VMWare vCenter / ESXi physical, platform, network and storage architecture

Strong knowledge in deploying / managing Windows and Linux VMs / Templates / Appliances

Experience working in a team providing on-call 24 / 7 support

B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science, equivalent degree or industry experience
