ABOUT THE PROJECT

Global Manager Selection - Fund & ETFs (GMS) is the designated Centre of Reference in charge of selection, research and approval of all funds and ETFs, which are sold / distributed by various HSBC Group business such as Wealth and Personal Banking, Private Banking, and various Insurance entities, across the globe. GMS is a global team, based in London and Bangalore, responsible for mutual funds across all the asset classes encompassing Equity, Fixed Income, and Multi-Asset.

Quantitative fund analytics is already an integral part of the fund selection process. To enhance and build our quantitative due diligence capabilities, we are looking for self-starter individual with strong academic background, well versed in data analytics and with relevant experience developing end to end solution in python / R. The individual should have understanding of financial markets and quantitative techniques for data analytics and processing, to help us employ them to solve real-world investment problems. Your role as an individual contributor will involve developing various technical solutions used for the due diligence process and may also involve analyzing structured and unstructured data sets to assess fund performance and risk.

What you need to have to succeed in this role

  • At least 2+ years of work experience in financial industry ideally in wealth management, private bank, or investment management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, or a STEM subject.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to write and debug VBA code to automate tasks and enhance Excel functionality.
  • Hands-on experience of using Python and SQL to analyze data and create reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to details, and ability to work with complex dataset.
  • Experience of developing web-based tools would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Morningstar, Factset, and Bloomberg would be of added advantage.
  • Pursuing or completed CFA or CQF would be a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
