Supplier Development Engineer

Job Purpose

The primary objective of the Supplier Development Engineer is to ensure the highest quality of components delivered to the manufacturing site by developing and improving supplier processes. This role evaluates, qualifies, and provides technical and quality support to suppliers, implements corrective and preventive actions, and collaborates closely with engineering, purchasing, and production teams to ensure supplier compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and industry requirements.

Your Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying “high impact” suppliers.
• Visit new and “high impact” suppliers to ensure APQP progress and process integrity.
• Serve as a roadblock remover to ensure APQP target dates are successfully met.
• Proactively work with suppliers to minimize and eliminate launch issues.
• Report supplier APQP progress / problems to the client launch team.
• Lead APQP activities at suppliers.
• Work closely with suppliers to improve their processes, focusing on elimination of waste and driving non‑value added cost out of the supplier system.
• Ensure all PPAP requirements are met and documentation is up to date for components within assigned commodities.
• Conduct supplier quality training at supplier facilities to meet client and customer quality expectations.
• Collaborate with direct buyers to identify savings ideas.
