Responsibilities

  • Inspect machined railcar components such as axles, wheels, gearboxes, journal bearings, and wheelset assemblies
  • Ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and proper documentation of critical measurements
  • Witness the entire railcar wheel re-pressing process and verify all recorded measurements
  • Compare recorded measurements with those taken by company employees for accuracy
  • Scan and submit records into the database before shift completion
  • Provide quality inspection support to the Project Manager
  • Work alongside operations personnel, supervisors, and managers to maintain quality and production goals
  • Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience working in a machine shop or industrial environment preferred
  • Understanding of machining terminology (tolerances, interference fits, runout, bores, mounting / seating force)
  • Familiarity with common tools & machinery such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and press machines
  • Knowledge of shop practices and safety precautions
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work in close quarters
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English or German or French
  • French language skills are a plus
  • Dependable, deadline-driven, and comfortable working onsite (abroad)
  • Basic math proficiency
