Dealer Principal - General Manager

Your responsibilities
- Advise, coordinate, and assist the management team with the annual budgeting process and the production of the final budget.
- With the assistance of the departmental managers, construct annual business performance plans.
- Ensure the dealership meets or exceeds targets set in the annual business plans.
- Control and monitor regularly departmental performance.
- Maintain control of resources.
- Ensure expenses and overheads are kept within budget.
- Ensure the highest standards of service are achieved throughout all departments, and that all dealership staff is aware of the importance of good customer service.
- Ensure all customer complaints are dealt with immediately and in a professional manner, in order to limit any legal liabilities.
- Produce daily, weekly, monthly targets for departmental managers, which reflect the company’s annual budget objectives.
- Advise and co-ordinate the marketing and advertising campaigns for each department as necessary to achieve the targets set under the annual business plan.
- Regularly hold meetings with managers and the management teams to measure and discuss performance and produce action plans where necessary to address any identified shortfall or exploit any opportunities.
- Work with statutory auditors and liase with them during the annual audit process, reporting to the Managing Director / Board of Directors concerning any areas of the business, within their report, that require attention / action.
- After consultation with the Managing Director / Board of Directors, implement any recommendations made in the annual audit report.
- Ensure that each department in the business carries out stock / inventory checks at intervals as designated by the Managing Director / Board of Directors.
- Develop an effective management team through personal coaching, regular communication, and hands-on leadership.
- Carry out performance appraisal of departmental managers on a regular basis and ensure that a performance appraisal system is implemented for all other staff in the business.
- Help departmental managers identify staff training needs and agree training programmes.
- Prepare annual manpower and staff job and career development plans.
- Participate in regular performance appraisals and provide feed back to the Managing Director / Board of Directors.
- Undertake regular Job performance appraisals and provide feed back to subordinates.
- Identify and discuss individual training needs for departmental managers.
- Ensure the security of all company assets and intellectual property is safeguarded.
- Any formal discipline of staff should be discussed with the Managing Director / Board of Directors.
- Recruit and select staff using the company recruitment and selection policy.
- Respond to the needs and standards of the manufacturers represented within the business.
- Plan future business strategies to capitalise on the changing marketplace and business opportunities.
- Throughout the fiscal year to keep abreast of changes in the Automotive Market and general economy trends and to suggest ideas on business initiatives and strategies for the operation of the business to the Managing Director / Board of Directors.
- Ensure health and Safety Standards are maintained.
- Ensure the company complies with all statutory regulations, including but not limited to Cossh and Riddor regulations.
- Maintain buildings, equipment and other assets to required standards.
- Holidays and time off work should be agreed with the Managing Director / Chairman of the
- Board.

Proven experience in the automotive or motorcycle industry, preferably in a leadership or strategic role. A deep understanding of the Harley-Davidson brand, its culture, and customer expectations is essential.Fluent command of English, both written and spoken, is a must – this role requires regular communication with the manufacturer, international partners, and clients.Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead cross-functional teams (sales, service, parts, administration).Excellent business acumen, including financial oversight, sales performance tracking, and budgeting – the candidate must be capable of driving profitability and ensuring operational efficiency.Customer-focused mindset, with a passion for delivering premium service and building long-term client relationships.Ability to work under pressure and make data-driven decisions in a dynamic and competitive market.What we offer
