Financial Compliance Accountant (Central Europe Portfolio) – Warsaw, Poland
The Prologis organization in Europe is structured with a vast number of legal entities; there are over 1,000 legal entities across multiple jurisdictions and countries including 142 entities in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Czeck Republic. The corporate purpose of these entities is various but together they are all established to serve our one business purpose, i.e. owning and leasing of warehouse facilities. Most of these entities are required to file statutory accounts, corporate income tax returns, and other local filings. These European filings are referred to as ‘Financial Compliance’.
Prologis is looking to appoint a Financial Compliance Accountant, who will ensure delivery for Poland as well as support on Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic, based in the Warsaw office in Poland. The right candidate will show a continuous focus on process improvements and their execution together with the internal stakeholders and 3rd party service providers. This role reports into the Director, Financial Compliance Central Europe based in Warsaw, Poland.
What’s needed in order to do that :
- Support and review output from third-party providers to ensure accurate filing of annual accounts, corporate income tax and other local filings
- Provide legal documentation, reviewed accounting schedules and other relevant information to enable the finalization of the compliance work
- Support / coordination of the local statutory audits with the Local audit teams
- Support / coordination of tax audits and communications with the tax administration
- Monitor and manage the local compliance calendars, ensuring all deadlines are met
- Function as local compliance (GAAP and Tax) accountant and provide guidance to the accountants in various accounting teams based in Amsterdam
- Ensure alignment with internal and external policies and regulations and timely reporting
- Coordinate with external and internal parties, such as the Legal, Tax and Treasury departments, to ensure all deadlines are met and cross-functional activities such as re-financing and corporate simplifications are effectively performed
- Ensure that all statutory adjustments are provided to the general ledger accountants for posting in the accounting system
- Review tax calculation packages
- Support to VAT team for filings and communications with the tax administration
- Review tax assessments, prepayments, and final payments in conjunction with filed CIT returns
- Participate in process improvements and automation initiatives to streamline compliance activities
