responsibilities :

  • Provide technical leadership for our geospatial technology stack, guiding architecture decisions and establishing best practices
  • Lead a cross-functional team of developers, data scientists, and geospatial specialists in building scalable solutions
  • Drive the evolution of our geospatial services including natural hazard scoring, satellite imagery analysis via computer vision, and post-catastrophe event analysis
  • Design and optimize APIs and data products that effectively serve both internal stakeholders (underwriters, actuaries, claims teams) and external clients
  • Collaborate with product managers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans
  • Collaborate with architects and CTO to define scalable architectures aligned with our platform principles
  • Mentor and grow technical talent within the team while fostering a culture of innovation
  • Evaluate emerging geospatial technologies and recommend strategic adoptions to maintain competitive advantage
  • requirements-expected :

  • 7+ years of experience in geospatial technology and software development, with atleast 3 years in a technical leadership position
  • Deep expertise with geospatial data processing, including raster (e.g : tiff, cog) and vector data (e.g. : geojson, geoparquet, h3), analysis, and visualization tools (e.g.,PostGIS, Mapbox, QGIS, ArcGIS, Carto, Felt…)
  • Strong background in modern cloud architecture (AWS) and API design for geospatial applications
  • Proficiency in Python and Javascript with hands-on experience using geospatial libraries and frameworks (e.g., gdal, rasterio, geopanda, leaflet)
  • Expertise in distributed geospatial data processing, including practical experience with big data (Spark, GeoSpark / Sedona, or equivalent)
  • Experience in designing and implementing data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and analyzing geospatial data using event-driven architectures.
  • Knowledge of data storage solutions that are optimized for geospatial data (ie : PostGIS)
  • Ability to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance within data management practices
  • Experience with computer vision techniques applied to satellite or aerial imagery
  • Knowledge of natural catastrophe modeling concepts and approaches a plus
  • Familiarity with insurance industry terminology and workflows (property underwriting, risk assessment, claims) is highly valuable
