Head of Data Governance

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Head of Data Governance & Quality is responsible for ensuring Wella's data is trusted, compliant, and AI-ready, enabling advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI to deliver meaningful business value. This role will define and lead the global data governance strategy, embedding quality, integrity, and ethical standards into the data lifecycle so that AI models are built on reliable, unbiased, and well-understood datasets.

You will partner closely with technology teams, data scientists, and business leaders to create the foundation for AI-driven innovation — ensuring that data fuelling these solutions is accurate, complete, consistent, and compliant with global regulations.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

Data Governance & AI Enablement

Establish a global data governance framework that ensures data is ready for safe, effective AI and analytics use

• Define data ownership and stewardship models to guarantee accountability for AI training datasets

Develop and enforce data standards and definitions that improve AI model interpretability and reduce bias

Data Quality for AI & Analytics

Build a data quality strategy that measures, monitors, and continuously improves data across all AI-relevant domains (customer, product, transactions, supply chain, etc.)

Implement automated quality checks to flag and remediate data issues before they impact AI models

Regulatory Compliance & Ethical AI

Ensure compliance with global privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, LGPD) and AI ethics frameworks

Act as a trusted advisor on how governance safeguards Wella's AI reputation and regulatory position.

Metadata, Master Data & Data Lineage

Oversee metadata management to enable AI teams to understand data sources, context, and usage constraints

Implement data lineage capabilities so AI models can be audited and retrained with full traceability

Business Partnership & AI Adoption

Collaborate with the Global Head of Data Products to align governance with AI product development needs

Champion AI literacy in governance, ensuring stakeholders understand the data foundations needed for AI success

Technology & Tooling for AI Readiness

Select and deploy data governance and quality platforms that integrate with AI / ML workflows (e.g., Collibra, Ataccama)

Ensure Wella's cloud data architecture (Databricks, SAP Datasphere, Power BI) supports AI-ready data pipelines

Leadership & Capability Building

Lead a global governance team skilled in data quality for AI
