Our client, a tech startup based in the UK is seeking a dynamic Gen-AI Backend Engineer who is experienced with Python and FastAPI to join our innovative team and drive enterprise-grade backend solutions. This role is designed for candidates with a proven track record in backend development, who thrive in a remote and agile work environment while delivering scalable and secure AI-powered services.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend components that integrate production-level large language model (LLM) workflows and cloud-native operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build intuitive AI features directly impacting thousands of end-users. Key tasks include :

• Design, develop, and maintain production-grade microservices using Python and FastAPI.
• Integrate LLMs from OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source providers with vector database systems.
• Implement and manage AWS-based cloud solutions with Kubernetes, Helm, and EKS to ensure high availability and scalability.
• Create and maintain infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform or CDK.
• Establish rigorous monitoring, security, and performance metrics to continuously improve system reliability.

Requirements

Candidates must have at least 4-6 years of professional backend experience along with a minimum of 2 years building FastAPI (or Starlette-based) services at scale. We expect hands-on expertise with LLM integration, vector databases, and AWS cloud-native technologies. Proven experience in end-to-end project ownership and a results-driven mindset are vital to success in this role. Additionally, the ideal candidate will thrive in a remote setup with a minimum of 4 hours of daily overlap with Central European Time, ensuring seamless collaboration with the team.
