Overview

Role Description : We are seeking an accomplished Lead Engineer to join our team in Kraków. As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing large-scale backend systems and applications in Python for both local and cloud environments. You will create new Python libraries, architect APIs, and ensure seamless integration with diverse systems such as databases, storage, and frontends. Your role will also include building containerized solutions, developing CI / CD pipelines, and deploying robust, reusable coding environments. You will deliver automated solutions for agile model build and deployment, working collaboratively with business stakeholders, Quantitative Analysts, and IT to deliver end-to-end strategic software in line with best practices and evolving business as well as regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will work closely with the Head of Financial Engineering to support change management and maintain compliance throughout the system lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement large-scale backend systems and applications in Python for both local and cloud environments.
Create new Python libraries, architect APIs, and ensure seamless integration with databases, storage, and frontends.
Build containerized solutions and develop CI / CD pipelines; deploy robust, reusable coding environments.
Deliver automated solutions for agile model build and deployment; collaborate with business stakeholders, Quantitative Analysts, and IT.
Support change management and maintain compliance throughout the system lifecycle.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in backend systems and large-scale application development.

Proven expertise in designing and building backend applications and systems in Python, including from scratch, with a focus on new Python libraries, API design, and system integration.

Demonstrated experience in the development of containerized solutions and CI / CD pipelines for end-to-end automation on cloud-based platforms (GCP, Docker). Familiarity with Jenkins and Github integration is advantageous.

Expert-level proficiency in at least three of the following : Python, FastAPI, Apache Airflow, S3, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Docker.

Strong background in writing and reviewing technical documentation and leading test-driven development initiatives.

Knowledge of finance, especially quantitative finance, risk, or analytics, is considered an asset.
